GIZEMLI NEHIR, Turkish translation of my thriller THE RIVER is now available in Turkey

Introducing the Turkish translation of THE RIVER...
A couple of days ago I found a package in the mail from the literary agency in Turkey that had handled the contracts for a Turkish translation of my techno-thriller, THE RIVER. Inside the package were two paperbacks of the newly released GIZEMLI NEHIR--my translation.

To say that I'm thrilled is an understatement! I had very much the same reaction as I'd had when my very first novel was published and in my hands. I was awed, excited, proud, and in disbelief. GIZEMLI NEHIR marks another highlight in my career as a writer--and in my life.

Though I don't know anyone other than the literary agent in Turkey, I can't wait to hear from a reader in Turkey who has read this translation.

Thank you to Eftalya Kitap, book publisher in Turkey, for taking a chance on my novel.

And a special thank you to Filiz Karaman at Nurichan Kesim Literary Agency for making this deal happen.

Whale Song in translation for Chinese and German markets

I just realized that I hadn't actually announced that I have two translation rights deals for Whale Song.

First, I've signed a deal with a Chinese company and an ebook edition will be in translation in a few months. There's also a possibility that there may be a Chinese print edition later. Over the next few months, I'll be assisting in the translation by explaining parts of the novel to the translators.

I also have another deal in place for a German translation of Whale Song. It will be published in ebook and trade paperback edition. This is especially exciting as Amazon has recently opened their Germany site to ebooks.

Of course, with both editions this will mean new book covers, which I'll post here as soon as I have them.

Whale Song is available in English in ebook and paperback at your favorite online retailer, including Amazon, Kobo Books, B&N, Smashwords and more. Ask your bookstore to bring it in.

Lost in translation...

An email from my publisher created a bit of excitement yesterday. He told me that Whale Song is being seriously considered for translation rights in a foreign language.

I'm not going to say which language or country, but I can tell you this:

The language has the letter 'e' in it. :)

I will let you know when the deal is made. For now, I will lose myself in dreaming about picking up a copy of Whale Song, with a different cover and text in a language I can't read.

Whale Song is off to the Ukraine

Yesterday, while signing books at Audreys Books in Edmonton, a fellow stopped by my table. We had an interesting discussion, especially when I found out that he was a translator. I told him how excited I will be when I see one of my novels translated into another language. Some of my author firneds have their books in multiple translations with varying covers per country. It's really very fascinating.

In the end, he bought a copy of Whale Song for a friend, who is also a translator. I found out that Whale Song will be on its way to Ternopil, Ukraine, shortly and heading to the Chair of the Department of Translators at the Ternopil National University.

Of course, he bought Whale Song for his friend as pure entertainment, but you never know. Perhaps one day the Ukraine will have a translated version. I wonder what the title will be? :)
