New Website Design...Coming Soon!

With the release of a new novel coming out in January 2007, I decided it was time to clean up my website, spruce it up a bit. So, over the next few weeks, I'll be working on this gargantuan project. If all goes well, I expect to launch my fresh new look on June 21st, 2006. So check back around that date to see what's new. Also, expect to see Whale Song 2003 go on sale (if you purchase via PayPal only) sometime around that date. Divine Justice delayed...

Thank you all for your support and caring in the past months, and for the cards of sympathy after my brother's murder. Your thoughts have been greatly appreciated, and I am now getting back to creating. I have finished the Whale Song screenplay, with talented co-writer Alison Neuman, and it will be off to a film producer shortly. I have also finished the new revised special edition of Whale Song, which will be released in January 2007 across Canada and the US to start, and then worldwide. I am exceptional proud to have been offered this book deal by a company based in Ontario, Canada, but with offices in Florida. Kunati Inc. Book Publishers has a sensational vision, with highly motivated, creative go-getters that will aggressively market all Kunati titles. Thank you, Kunati! I apologize to those of you who are waiting patiently for the next in the Divine series. Divine Justice has been delayed in order to work on Porch Monkeys, a book to honor my brother and a book that I believe will be important and possibly impact other people's lives. A Momentary Lapse of Insanity?

Ok, the above headline does NOT refer to a new Cheryl Kaye Tardif mystery. (Although, come to think of it...) The lapse I'm referring to is the five minutes I took today to fill out an entry form for one of the most grueling writers' contests in writing history--the 3-Day Novel Contest. Yes, that does mean that I will attempt to write an entire novel in 3 days. That is, IF I am selected as one of the 12 lucky (or is that crazy?) finalists. At this time, I don't have all the details other than what's posted on the site, but I do know that this national event will be televised on BookTV. The 12 finalists will have to endure sleep-deprivation, bright lights, noise, customers/fans (but we love them!) and other assorted distractions--not to mention enduring gallons of coffee and few pee breaks. At this time, I'm leaving it in the hands of Fate or Destiny as to whether I'll be participating. If they select me, I'll be armed with my deadliest weapons--my somewhat warped brain and my laptop. I'll probably prop up a sign on my table that reads: Please don't feed the animal....bring her coffee instead!! And of course I would take this golden opportunity to promote my Kunati Inc. Book Publishers' release of Whale Song, available in January 2007. Keep all fingers, toes, legs and eyes crossed! Write what haunts you!

People always ask me questions on writing. Usually they ask how I got started in writing. And I always tell them I don't remember ever NOT writing. Aspiring authors ask me how did I know WHAT to write. The best advice I could give anyone who feels drawn to write? Write what is in your heart! Write what haunts you...what keeps you up at night. Write what won't let go of you...what you keep coming back to. You know what that is. Write what plays out in your mind like a movie. Any of these...or all of these. THAT is what you need to write. Don't worry about what to do with it afterward...write for yourself first. Eventually you'll know what to do next. When I wrote Whale Song I wanted people to feel something...anything. I wanted readers to laugh, remember, get angry, feel shocked, cry, ache...but most of all I wanted people to think about it long after they put the book down. I believe that if I want my readers to feel these emotions, then I must experience them myself...when I'm writing the story. Not many people know it, but I cried when I finished the last chapter of Whale Song. That story tugged at my thoughts for over 2 years before I even wrote a word of it. Sometimes it's hard to 'give in' to that tug...but you would be denying yourself not to. When you're ready to start...give in completely to the 'writing' of IT. IT (whatever that may be) will almost write itself. Enjoy the journey--for every story is a magical trek into the unknown, into realms of fantasy, romance, horror, crime, suspense...(the list goes on.) Write what you feel. Write what you know and research what you don't. Above all, writers write. It's in our blood. ~Cheryl

RV Lot for Sale at Half Moon Lake Resort! SOLD!

This lot was sold! And trust me, you wouldn't want to be living out there anyway. My inlaws had nothing but problems with the place and the management. The "resort" bought back the lot for next to nothing and bounced a cheque--said they had some financial problems. My inlaws finally got their money but it was a nightmare!! I was about to call Edmonton's TroubleShooter.

We used to visit them, but stopped going out there because it was awful. In the time my inlaws lived out there, they experienced poor management and no upkeep of the grounds, overflowing sewage, garbage everywhere and animals getting into it because it wasn't collected regularly, unmowed lots and fields, dirty beach area, broken washers and dryers, broken public washrooms and so much more.

Buy a lot here at your own risk! I wouldn't pay a dime for a lot at Half Moon "Resort"...the last word is such a joke.
