My 2005 techno-thriller THE RIVER was recently released in ebook edition with a stunning new cover. Today the new trade paperback edition became available for only $9.99 US at Createspace. Soon it will be available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other retailers.
The new second edition contains the same critically acclaimed story about a woman who takes a group of near strangers up north to the Nahanni River area of Canada's Northwest Territories, in search of her father who went missing years earlier and was presumed dead.
This new edition comes out prior to a highly anticipated ABC television series, also titled THE RIVER, which airs this fall. The storyline is very similar to my novel; in fact, I've already been asked by one fan if this series was based on my novel.
THE RIVER television series - A father goes missing in the Amazon and is presumed dead. His family and friends go looking for him. What they find is paranormal and beyond belief.
My bestselling thriller THE RIVER - Del and her followers hunt for her father along the Nahanni River and also encounter the paranormal...and a deadly plot that threatens all of mankind.
Check out my novel THE RIVER.

Divine Intervention is being considered for a TV series

I have 3 film deals in the works. Nothing guaranteed yet--but then again there aren't any guarantees in the film industry.
My novel Divine Intervention is being considered by a well respected director who has many current hit TV series to his name. I believe he could have a hit as there's nothing quite like it on TV now. It would be like combining Medium, CSI and Ghost Whisperer.
If you haven't read Divine Intervention, it's about 3 psychic government agents (PSIs) and a fireman (Chief of Arson Investigation) and their search for a deadly serial arsonist. The team's covert base is a tiny mountain town called Divine, named after the head of the PSI division.
So my husband got to thinking the other day...He wondered what the title of the television series would be.
He came up with PSI Canada.
I came up with PSI Divine.
Of course it'll probably be something very different. But it was fun wondering.
If you've read Divine Intervention, what do you think a series should be called?

Save Wild Roses! Season 2 cancelled
If you are a fan of the hit CBC television show 'Wild Roses', I've got some bad news for you. CBC has decided not to run another season. Wow...I am soooo disappointed. And so are many others.
This was one of the best Canadian TV shows we've ever had. Not to mention that Wild Roses ended with a bang at the end of the first season. I need closure! I need to find out if anyone dies in the explosion. They can't just leave us hanging like this. It's not fair!
There are only 2 Canadian shows I've been watching regularly--Wild Roses and Being Erica. Everything else is American. Not that I don't love their shows, I do. But Wild Roses really captured the Alberta flavor. Many of my US friends and fans wanted to watch it.
This is a sad time in Canadian television history. Cutting great shows like this is like taking away a part of our heritage, the part that makes us Canadian and keeps us so. Well, I'm taking a stand. I've signed a petition to save Wild Roses. I hope you'll consider signing it too.
CBC, don't axe this show! Wild Roses deserves its spot. Last month I signed a petition to save the CBC. If you keep cutting awesome shows like Wild Roses, next time I won't bother.

UPDATE May 1, 2010: Sadly, this awesome Canadian TV series is cancelled and there are no plans it seems to bring it back. If you have enjoyed this taste of Canadian drama and are looking for more, I invite you to check out my novels--all set in areas of Canada. I can promise you lots of drama, suspense and sometimes romance. Please drop by my website and check me out. http://www.cherylktardif.com

Which actors do you think should play the lead roles in Whale Song, The River and Divine Intervention?
I thought I'd share a neat little site that is a lot of fun, especially if you like movies and movie stars. It's called Story Casting, where you can dream about who would play the movie roles of the characters from your favorite novels.
Since Whale Song is currently being read by a number of film companies, including some from Hollywood, I've had some time to think about this--plus I've already written the screenplay. Divine Intervention was considered for a possible TV series last year, and The River for a MOW (movie of the week). Those of you who have dealt with producers before will know that this can be a long, long process, and a "no" now doesn't mean they won't come back later when the timing is right--so who knows?
Here are the links to my book pages on StoryCasting.com. I hope you'll have some fun and pick out who you think would make the perfect Sarah Richardson (Whale Song) or Del and Jack (The River) or Jasi, Brandon, Natassia and Ben (Divine Intervention). And you can see who I picked. :)

P.S. When I think of Whale Song (the movie)...I can smell the popcorn yet! ;-)
