DES NEBELS KINDER - an Amazon.de Top 100 bestseller for a month

I can't believe that my German translation, DES NEBELS KINDER, just spent a month on Amazon.de's Top 100 overall list! Or that it already has 35 reviews, with the majority being 4-5 stars. It blows me away that German readers are embracing my book with excitement and are so generous with their reviews.

I would love to see it listed on more blogs, so if anyone reading this has a blog that caters to German readers, feel free to post something about DES NEBELS KINDER. And I am open to interviews or guest blogging any time.

Thank you!!!

Translation from Google Translate (my apologies if this is incorrect):

Children of the Fog review: "Intense...Creepy...Suspenseful...And great!"

"Intense...Creepy...Suspenseful...And great! It's a fast paced story, a mystery with paranormal elements. The characters are interesting and so well described that you can actually picture them. The entire book is full of eerie twists and turns that makes the inner sleuth in you want to keep the pages turning. The way the sub-plots intertwine keeps you guessing and makes you anxious to see what happens next... just when you think you have it figured out Tardif takes you in another direction."

Review: Children of the Fog - "A thrilling, chilling and emotional treat!"

"A total page turner!! I am an avid reader and was looking for some new, fresh suspense to load onto my Kindle. I was given a tip on Children of the Fog and boy was I glad. Cheryl Kaye Tardif has done an amazing job entertaining me. Not only did I identify with the main character, (Sadie), on various levels, but with all the twists and turns and little subplots, my inner slueth was constantly in commotion. I couldnt figure out a thing in advance. What I kept anticipating to happen, never did and it turned into something totally unexpected. Wow! It was so hard to put down that I hardly did. What a thrilling, chilling and emotional treat! Love, love, love!"

Children of the Fog is available on Amazon, B&N, Smashwords, Kobo Books, iBooks and more and you can purchase either the ebook edition or a trade paperback edition.

"Children of the Fog by Cheryl Kaye Tardif is an intense thriller..."

"Children of the Fog by Cheryl Kaye Tardif is an intense thriller that left no room for me to breathe. I would read it every moment I had a chance, on the subway, when my in laws were focused on their
polish shows I could not understand and in the movie theater 20 minutes before the previews...

"You have 10 seconds to make a decision: Let a kidnapper take your child, or watch your son die. Choose!"

As a parent a choice like this would break my heart. Cheryl certainly did not make the choice easy for Sadie, the protagonist of this book. Her choice creates conflict and an inner struggle that makes us feel for Sadie and deepens the story to the point that you can’t let go of the book...Children of the Fog is well worth reading, but be warned you will not be able to catch your breath until the very end."

Divine Intervention review: "This is some of the best suspense writing around."

Overall rating:

"Cheryl Kaye Tardif has become my favorite Canadian writer with this series and other books. Character and scenario building is always excellent. The villains are never easy to catch or figure out. A bit of humor sprinkled throughout is always a respite from the tension of the chase to find the killer before another victim falls...Ms. Tardif helps her characters take it all in stride while weaving us through a maze of false trails leading up to an always exciting finale...Tardif draws us into the tale both emotionally and mentally as we try to figure out who does the nasty deeds before she tells us. This is some of the best suspense writing around."

Whale Song review: "This is, hands down, one of my top five favorite books."

"I would describe this book as a beautiful piece of fiction that reads like a memoir. I've never read a book quite like this...it's very unique...This is, hands down, one of my top five favorite books. It's beautifully written, gorgeous detail, a unique story line and is fast-paced enough that we keep turning the pages but not so much so that it loses the reader. It touches on important issues, like bullying, abuse and losing a parent, in a way that's informative but not overwhelming. What I really loved is how it shone the light on the Native culture and spirituality in such a beautiful way. Plus, Tardif had me with the title: I love whales and dophins!

Tardif went through alot to get this story out there, and later on went through alot to help keep the story out there. I have always had such a tremendous respect for her as a writer and author. Now after reading this work, and knowing her reasons for wanting to keep it out there (do be sure to read her dedication to her brother, Jason) I respect her even more as a humanitarian. This is a must-read...a good and important read for everyone."

Whale Song review: "What an amazing story..."

"What an amazing story...After going Whale watching for the very first time in January, the title of this book caught my attention! This was such a heart warming story about family and having a close relationship, making new friends, losing loved ones and forgiving. The characters were very real and I could really envision seeing this played out while I read...I absolutely loved this book..."

Whale Song review: "Cheryl has a great gift in keeping you up at night..."

"What a wonderful story. I always like to discover new authors, I was so captivated by this story, I downloaded The River, Divine Intervention and Remote Control. Cheryl has a great gift in keeping you up at night and wanting to get to the end of the page, then the end of the chapter. I am hooked on her books."

--Donna Holloway, aka Rawhideranch

The River review: "Cheryl Kaye Tardif knows how to tell a great story."

"Cheryl Kaye Tardif puts her readers on the edge of their seat from the first page when her main character, Del Hawthorne, learns that her father, presumed dead for seven years, is alive...This story really has everything: mystery/suspense, cryptic messages, science fiction, great adventure, and wonderful character development. I had trouble putting this book down and had to cover the parts of the page I hadn't read yet to prevent myself from skipping ahead and spoiling the suspense...Cheryl Kaye Tardif knows how to tell a great story. She writes beautifully and her characters are real and believable...You will not be disappointed by the measure of suspense, mystery, adventure, and good storytelling that Cheryl dishes out."

"'The River' is so much a part of my life"

"Cheryl, your book 'The River' is so much a part of my life, I grew up on stories of the Nahanni (including the headless part), my father trapped there and was the main source of all the stories I heard. How uncanny that your story involved the love from a father. I look forward to reading your next book and hopefully there will be many more for us avid readers." --Roseann

"I read Whale Song over a few nights and was unable to put it down at the end. Whale Song is a powerful story of love and loss, family and friendship, bullying and ultimate forgiveness. Cheryl draws you into the lives of the Nootka Indians and allows the reader to experience Indian folklore firsthand. Whale Song review: "Cheryl Kaye Tardif writes like the flow of a river"

Another 5 STAR review for Whale Song! Looks like John is in the running in my new review contest.

"For Anyone Young or Young At Heart...I found this book spiritual, mystical and very sweet. Cheryl Kaye Tardif writes like the flow of a river. I was transported to this tiny island in Canada and felt like I had also grown up there. Some people will say that since it is focused on a young girl coming of age, men/boys may not relate to it... this is absolutely false... anyone who is young or young at heart will love this book. I plan on buying copies for many of my friends and family this December. It will forever hold a small place in my heart." --John Zur

Whale Song review: "mystical, honest, haunting and wonderful"

Here is a new review for my bestselling novel WHALE SONG:
"Anyone who has heard the haunting sound of a whale's song will never forget it. So it is with this story, mystical, honest, haunting and wonderful. So emotional in fact, that I am writing this review while my eyes are still damp with tears. Tears of joy, tears of sorrow, and a great feeling of enlightenment and belonging...Cheryl Kaye Tardif, you moved me...If I take nothing more away with me from reading this book, these three alone were worth the read: live life fully; "forgiveness will set you free"; know when to let go...Let me just say that this is one book I am thrilled to have had the opportunity not only to read, but to feel. It is as though I was dropped into the mind of Sarah and existing within these pages myself, feeling every emotion."
There is so much more to this review, but you really should read it from beginning to end. Without revealing spoilers, this review touches upon the relationships that make Whale Song worth reading.

Children of the Fog: 'You have 10 seconds to make a decision...'

People in the writing biz know how difficult it is to have a manuscript rise to the top of the slush pile, where it needs to be so that publishers will notice it. My goal is to get to the top--and I'm close. Nowadays, authors have to be bolder to get noticed.

While my agent is pitching my new thriller Children of the Fog to publishers, I am doing what I can to get it read by editors. Right now it is on Authonomy, a site created by HarperCollins, and I could really use your support.

The more people who "back" my book, the closer I'll get to being read by the editors at HC, and I would love that opportunity.

So I'd like to invite you to check out Children of the Fog, read a chapter or seven, and if you enjoy it and think it's worthy, please click on "back the book".

Here's what the critics say:

"Gripping storyline... that takes us on a harrowing and chilling journey...BRILLIANTLY written..."
"IF ANYONE WANTS TO KNOW WHAT GOOD WRITING AND A GOOD STORY IS; THIS IS IT.  Wow."
"Superb."
"Masterful writing! Descriptive! You hook us with your gripping edge of the seat, first chapter. You have set the bar high for the genre."
"Truly professional quality writing. Quite astonishing really."
"Gripping...The pitch is also fantastic, one of the best I've read here or anywhere else."
"This is an excellent but chilling story, and I sat in front of my computer with tears rolling down my face...an absolutely superb gem."

Children of the Fog ~ You have 10 seconds to make a decision. Let a madman take your child, or watch your child die. CHOOSE!

Once you click on "Back the book" you'll need to set up an account, but it's free and you don't have to do anything else afterward. And you won't get junk mail.

Thank you for your support. I truly appreciate it.

Whale Song - "You will remember this award-winning book for a long, long time"

5.0 out of 5 stars"Canadian author Cheryl Kaye Tardif has a winning combination in her young adult book Whale Song: A Novel. Against a vivid Vancouver Island backdrop she weaves together many effective elements: the native American spirit world, symbolism of the orca (killer whale), racism and bullying, and the tragedy and redemption that run through young Sarah's family.

Eleven-year-old Sarah Richardson moves from Wyoming to Vancouver Island in Canada where her marine biologist father has a new job. Sarah feels alienated, but she makes a new friend in her neighbor Goldie, a Nootka Indian whose grandmother introduces Sarah to the traditional stories of their tribe. Goldie's family tragically lost a son to drowning and the young Goldie believes that the orcas are a link to the spirit of her brother.

When Sarah's artist mother becomes gravely ill, things spin out of control; at the height of her pain Sarah develops a hysterical amnesia and loses both her parents. Years later, emotionally closed-off to everything that had been meaningful to her, she finally finds peace in the love that she had known on Vancouver Island.

The author tells the story in Sarah's voice, and the prose is plaintive and rich. At times you may be reminded of gothic romance:

"...I felt restless and uneasy. I somehow knew that my life would change the second we drove into those trees.

"Destiny...or fate?"

The foreshadowing of tragedy, the intense emotion, a mystery, the suggestion of supernatural elements, loved ones kept apart by a misunderstanding... all gothic elements. But WHALE SONG is decidedly contemporary in the issues faced by adolescents finding their way to adulthood. The values and outcomes are just what you'd want for family reading, and this book will be enjoyed by all ages.

Cheryl Kaye Tardif handles the good and bad of family life with a sure hand, and tells a story that sings; you will remember this award-winning book for a long, long time."
